Taylorsville Real Estate History
The area called Taylorsville today is made up of three historic communities in the central part of Salt Lake County: Taylorsville, Bennion, and Kearns. They all became the City of Taylorsville during the centennial anniversary of Utah statehood in 1996 as the results of a grassroots effort of citizens who developed a vision that would provide greater local control of community planning, economic development and municipal service delivery.
While Taylorsville is still one of Utah’s newest cities, the area has a rich history dating back to 1848 when pioneers Joseph and Susanna Harker crossed over the Jordan River and founded the Taylorsville-Bennion areas originally referred to as “Over Jordan”.
Today Taylorsville is a popular area to live in because it is centrally located and affordable.
