By 1859, more settlers began to arrive in the area and five more towns were eventually settled. These towns included Providence, Mendon, Richmon, Smithfield and Logan, which is now the county seat.
By 1888, Utah State University was founded in Logan, which has now become the largest employer in the county and made Cache county real estate more popular than ever. Today, more than 12,000 people attend USU.
