Former Evermore Park buildings in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the site Brandon Sanderson's Dragonsteel plans to redevelop as its headquarters.

Evermore Park in Pleasant Grove isn't reopening as a theme park, but the land is getting a new story. Utah author Brandon Sanderson announced on Oct. 13, 2026, that his company, Dragonsteel, is partnering with The Will Group to buy the former Evermore property and make it the permanent home of Dragonsteel HQ, with a bookstore, event space, warehouse and more. Here's what's planned, what we know about timing, and what's still under wraps.

The Big Reveal: Evermore Park Becomes Part of Dragonsteel HQ

If you've driven North County Boulevard and wondered what would happen to those fairy-tale rooftops, we finally have an answer.

In his weekly YouTube update on Tuesday, Oct. 13, Sanderson (the bestselling author of The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn) said Dragonsteel and The Will Group are buying the commercial property that used to be Evermore Park. Dragonsteel's own project page says the two companies "are scheduled to close" on the land, so the sale hadn't closed yet when it was announced.

The site sits right next door to land Dragonsteel already owns. According to Utah County records cited by the Daily Herald, Dragonsteel Properties owns six acres of undeveloped land immediately south of the 13-acre Evermore property. Put the two together and you get a much bigger canvas for the project fans first knew as "Dragonsteel Village," later renamed "Dragonsteel Plaza."

What's Coming to the Land

Here's what Dragonsteel has said publicly so far:

  • A permanent Dragonsteel HQ. In its announcement, Dragonsteel wrote: "Our long-term plan is that this land will be the permanent home of Dragonsteel HQ, complete with warehouse, a bookstore, event space, and more."
  • A bookstore. If you're a Cosmere fan, a dedicated Sanderson bookstore in northern Utah County is the headline.
  • Event space. The Daily Herald reports that Sanderson originally bought the neighboring parcel to build Dragonsteel Plaza, "which would include a bookstore and an event space." The Evermore land expands that plan.
  • A warehouse, the behind-the-scenes piece of a working headquarters.
  • "And more." Dragonsteel hasn't listed everything yet. In its words: "We're looking forward to sharing more details soon, as we have many exciting things planned!"

Sanderson is clearly excited, though he's choosing his words carefully. As KSL reported, he said, "we are going to do some cool things with it," but added that he didn't want to talk about the details yet out of respect for people who loved Evermore.

What's Not Coming Back

Let's be upfront, because a lot of locals were hoping for a revival: the theme park itself is not reopening, and the buildings won't be saved.

Sanderson didn't sugarcoat it. "I'm still not interested in running a theme park, so don't get your hopes up in that regard," he said, according to KSL.

Dragonsteel's announcement explains why. The team had hoped to reuse some of the buildings, but "none of the structures are salvageable." The company added: "It would cost more to repair the buildings and bring them up to code than it will cost us to get rid of everything and build something new."

The ground itself needs work too. Sanderson told viewers, as quoted by the Daily Herald: "It was built up with a lot of fill that is not stable and that we can't build on."

Timeline: What We Know and What We Don't

Here's where things stand right now. We've only included dates that have actually been made public.

Milestone Status
Purchase announced Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, in Sanderson's weekly YouTube update and on Dragonsteel's project page
Sale closing "Scheduled to close," per Dragonsteel. No closing date or price has been made public
Demolition The first step, according to Dragonsteel. Sanderson said people will likely see it starting soon (KSL). No start date is public
Regrading the site Needed because of unstable fill, per Sanderson. No schedule is public
Designs and renderings Dragonsteel says it will "eventually" post images and more details. No date given
Construction start and HQ opening Not announced

Dragonsteel's project page says it can't share more for now: "Until then, we won't be able to provide further details outside of what is included here." Questions about the project go to DSProject@TheWillGroup.us, the contact listed on that page.

What to watch for: new designs or renderings would need city review before construction. Pleasant Grove's Planning Commission reviews commercial site plans and meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. As of this writing, we haven't found a Dragonsteel site plan on a city agenda.

A Quick Look Back: Why Evermore Closed

Evermore opened in 2018 as a year-round fantasy adventure park: a medieval and Victorian-inspired village where guests went on quests alongside live actors. It closed permanently in April 2024. Former CEO Ken Bretschneider told the Daily Herald in 2024 that the COVID-19 pandemic had lasting effects on ticket sales and that, along with rising inflation, the burden was too heavy to keep going.

A planned sale to new operators who hoped to reopen it fell through, and the land sat unused until this week's announcement. Sanderson said he toured Evermore when it first went up for sale and passed because he didn't want to run a theme park. He took another look only after it became clear no one else could make a park work there.

He also gave the old park a gracious send-off, saying "every story needs to have an ending" and adding, "this is an ending, but every ending is also, as we know, a new beginning," as reported by KSL and the Daily Herald.

What This Could Mean for Pleasant Grove and Utah County

For Pleasant Grove, a long-empty piece of land is finally headed somewhere. A bookstore and event space from a bestselling Utah author could give the north end of Utah County a fun new place to gather.

It's also a reminder of why so many families love this corner of the state: a small-town feel, mountains right out the back door, and enough new things happening to keep it interesting.
