How to Navigate the Utah Firework Ban This Weekend

Stuck with fireworks and no idea what to do with them, you are not alone. This year, Governor Spencer Cox issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency and banning personal fireworks statewide through July 5th. The order came in response to extraordinary wildfire conditions across Utah, including hundreds of fires, exhausted firefighting resources, and some of the most dangerous fire behavior in state history. 

Here is the most important thing to understand about how this works: the executive order implements firework restrictions as a default, but it also allows local leaders to designate spots within their cities where personal fireworks are still permitted, if that is something they want to do. In other words, the state set the floor, and every city gets to decide what happens on their streets.

If local leaders do not designate permitted areas, the state forester's closure remains fully in effect. 

We did the research so you do not have to. Below is a full breakdown by county of each city's fireworks restrictions and where you can go watch a professional show instead. As always, conditions are changing fast. Check your city's website before you head out, and when in doubt, leave the fireworks in the box.

Utah County

• Alpine — Blanket Ban.
• American Fork — Blanket Ban.
• Cedar Hills — Blanket Ban.
• Eagle Mountain — Blanket Ban. 
• Elk Ridge — Blanket Ban. 
• Highland — Blanket Ban.
• Lehi — Blanket Ban. City Show: Thanksgiving Point Electric Park, gates open 4pm, fireworks @ 10pm. 
• Lindon — Blanket Ban.
• Mapleton — Partial Restrictions. Fireworks allowed in certain areas near the city center. 
• Orem — Blanket Ban.
• Payson — Partial Restrictions. Payson Fire Rescue designated areas where fireworks are allowed and where they are restricted. Alternative discharge areas available at Payson Memorial Park, Payson City Center, and Payson Ball Fields and Soccer Complex.
• Pleasant Grove — Blanket Ban. City Show: Discovery Park, Saturday July 4th @ 10pm. 
• Provo — Blanket Ban. City Show: LaVell Edwards Stadium, Stadium of Fire (permitted professional event), July 4th.
• Salem — Blanket Ban.
• Santaquin — Status pending. Check santaquin.utah.gov for updates.
• Saratoga Springs — Blanket Ban.
• Spanish Fork — Partial Restrictions. Spanish Fork is using its existing firework restrictions, designating areas where personal fireworks will be allowed.
• Springville — Partial Restrictions. Springville released a map showing fireworks prohibited in a red zone on the mountain bench and much of west Springville, and a yellow zone where only novelty items like smoke bombs and sparklers are allowed.
• Vineyard — Blanket Ban.
• Woodland Hills — Blanket Ban 

Salt Lake County

Every city in Salt Lake County made the decision to ban personal fireworks for the Fourth of July holiday, fully aligning with Governor Cox's executive order. 

• Bluffdale — Blanket Ban.
• Cottonwood Heights — Blanket Ban.
• Draper — Blanket Ban.
• Herriman — Blanket Ban.
• Holladay — Blanket Ban. Full ban with no exceptions for the rest of 2026, including Pioneer Day.
• Magna — Blanket Ban. City Show: Magna Copper Park (8975 W 2600 S), Saturday July 4th @ 10pm. 
• Midvale — Blanket Ban.
• Millcreek — Blanket Ban. City Show: Millcreek Common (1354 E Chambers Ave), Thursday July 3rd, 6-10pm. Drone show, $5 tickets. 
• Murray — Blanket Ban. City Show: Murray Park softball field, Saturday July 4th @ 10pm. 
• Riverton — Blanket Ban. City Show: Riverton City Park, Saturday July 4th @ 10pm.

• Marriott-Slaterville — Blanket Ban. 
• North Ogden — Blanket Ban. City Show: Banker Park (2375 N Fruitland Drive), Saturday July 4th, concert at 7:30pm, fireworks at 10pm. 
• Ogden — Blanket Ban. 
• Plain City — Partial Restrictions. Plain City designated approved discharge areas at Lee Olsen Park Arena, Lee Olsen Park North Dirt Diamond, Lee Olsen Park South Dirt Diamond, and the Town Square Dirt Diamond. Fireworks are not permitted on any grass areas within these parks. City Show: Lee Olsen Park (3966 W 2200 N), July 4th at dusk. 
• Pleasant View — Blanket Ban.
• Riverdale — Partial Restrictions. Riverdale will use its existing map of high-risk areas where fireworks are banned. City Show: Riverdale Park (4300 Parker Drive), Friday July 4th @ 10pm. 
• Roy — Blanket Ban.
• South Ogden — Blanket Ban.
• Uintah — Blanket Ban.
• Washington Terrace — Blanket Ban.
• West Haven — Blanket Ban.

Davis County

• Bountiful — Blanket Ban.
• Centerville — Blanket Ban. City Show: Community Park, Saturday July 4th at dusk, after 8:30pm. 
• Clearfield — Partial Restrictions. North Davis Fire District designated areas where fireworks are allowed. Restricted areas include railroad tracks, trails, and other spots with dense brush and vegetation. City Show: Fisher Park (934 S 1000 E), Saturday July 4th @ 10pm. 
• Clinton — Partial Restrictions. Clinton City designated most of the city as an area where personal fireworks can be discharged. 
• Farmington — Partial Restrictions. 
• Fruit Heights — Partial Restrictions per Davis County map. Fireworks prohibited east of Highway 89.
• Kaysville — Partial Restrictions. City Show: Barnes Park, Saturday July 4th @ 10pm. Food trucks starting at 5pm.
• Layton — Partial Restrictions. Layton designated approved areas for fireworks discharge. City Show: 465 N. Wasatch Drive (Layton Commons Park), Saturday July 4th @ 10pm. 
  
• North Salt Lake — Blanket Ban. City Show: Eaglewood Golf Course, Friday July 3rd @ 10pm. 
• South Weber — Partial Restrictions. South Weber has designated areas within the city where fireworks are allowed and areas where they are restricted. 
• Sunset — Partial Restrictions. All areas east of I-15 are restricted. West side permits Class C fireworks.
• Syracuse — Partial Restrictions. No additional restrictions beyond state code at this time.
• West Bountiful — Blanket Ban. City Show: City Park (550 W 1600 N), Thursday July 3rd, carnival at 5pm, fireworks @ 10pm
• Woods Cross — Blanket Ban.

Washington County

• Enterprise — Partial Restrictions. The city is allowing personal fireworks with the mayor asking residents to use their best judgment and extreme caution. 
• Hurricane — Blanket Ban. City Show: Sand Hollow State Park (3351 Sand Hollow Rd), Saturday July 4th @ 10pm. 
• Ivins — Blanket Ban.
• La Verkin — Blanket Ban.
• Leeds — Blanket Ban.
• New Harmony — Blanket Ban.
• Santa Clara — Blanket Ban. 
• Springdale — Blanket Ban. 
• St. George — Partial Restrictions. City officials decided to move ahead with existing fireworks regulations, which include a designated map and a list of 19 parks where fireworks may be used. City Show: Greater Zion Stadium, Utah Tech University campus. Gates open 6:30pm, patriotic pre-show 7pm, Russell Dickerson concert 8pm, city fireworks @ 10pm. 
• Toquerville — Blanket Ban.
• Virgin — Blanket Ban.
• Washington City — Blanket Ban.
